I am directed by the Deputy Quarter Master General
to acknowledge the receipt of
yours, letter of the 4’ instant arrived this morning
and to express his thanks of the offer you made
of the several sketches of many remarkable features
in the Northern District etc and at the same time
to acquaint you that it is not judged expedient
at present to make any justification for the use of
this department, of the disruption you have specified.
